Preparation

Supplies that may be helpful rebuilding your vacuum pump:

Preparation, wear oil-proof gloves to protect your hands from contact with oil and the contaminants that may be in the oil.

Preparation, some tools that may be useful:

--- flathead screwdriver

--- phillips head screwdriver,

--- adjustable wrench,

--- pliers,

--- allen wrenches,

--- ratchet with sockets.

Preparation, you may need 1/2 and 7/16 inch sockets.

Preparation, cleaning is easier with:

--- pipe cleaner,

--- toothbrush,

--- scrubby pad (not metal),

Please use a scrubby pad that will not scratch metal.

Preparation, this may be messy so a bucket with a mild degreaser to soak parts and plenty of oil absorbent pads will help.

Preparation, use a wood block to separate any metal parts that might be stuck together, put the wood block on one metal part and hit the other end of the wood block with a hammer. The wood will not damage the metal.
