Making an Oil Case Gasket for a Welch Vacuum Pump

(Revised 10/29/15)

G1

Why make it?

Because if there is a NAPA auto parts nearby and they are open you can buy the material right now. Gasket material is available at auto parts stores.

The gasket material shown in the photo was purchased at NAPA auto parts.

It is easier to buy the recommended gaskets from the manufacturer.

The gasket material used in these directions has not been approved by the manufacturer, use at your own risk.

G2

Set the Oil Case Assembly on the gasket material.

Choose a flat surface and be sure the gasket material is completely flat.

G3

Use a pen to trace the outline of the Oil Case Assembly on the gasket material.

G4

Cut out the gasket with scissors.

G5

Set the cut-out gasket on the Oil Case Assembly and use a paper punch to put holes in the gasket for screws.

G6

Make the holes a little bigger than the screw using the paper punch twice to make a slightly larger hole.
