Making an Oil Case Gasket for a Welch Vacuum Pump

Why make it?
Because if there is a NAPA auto parts nearby and they are open you can buy the material right now. Gasket material is available at auto parts stores.
The gasket material shown in the photo
was purchased at NAPA auto parts.
It is easier to buy the recommended gaskets from the manufacturer.
The gasket material used in these directions has not been approved by the manufacturer, use at your own
risk.

Set the Oil Case Assembly on the gasket material.
Choose a flat surface and be sure the
gasket material is completely flat.

Use a pen to trace the outline of the Oil Case Assembly on the gasket material.

Cut out the gasket with scissors.

Set the cut-out gasket on the Oil Case Assembly and use a paper punch to put holes in the
gasket for screws.

Make the holes a little bigger than the screw using the paper punch twice to make a slightly larger hole.

Place the gasket on the Oil Case Assembly and put in the screws to hold the gasket in place.
Use a razor blade to cut out the inside of the gasket.

You did it!
Remove the screws and the gasket is ready to install on the vacuum pump.

Making a Gasket for the Large End Plate Cover.
Place the Large End Plate Cover on the gasket material.

Trace the outline of the Large End Plate Cover on the gasket material with a pen.

Cut out the gasket with a pair of scissors.

Place the gasket on the Large End Plate Cover and use a razor blade to cut out the inside of
the gasket.

Use a paper punch to put the holes for the screws in the gasket.

Put the screws in the Large End Plate, put the gasket on the Large End Plate and install.
